Initial application review typically takes 3-5 business days after submission. The complete process from application to visa approval varies based on several factors including document completeness, school matching timeline, and U.S. embassy processing times. Most applicants move through the full process within 3-6 months. You can check your specific status anytime through the application portal.
What should I do if my status shows "Additional Information Requested"?
Check your email for a detailed message from our team explaining exactly what we need. Common requests include credential evaluations from NACES-approved agencies, additional teaching references, or clarification on employment dates. Can I update my application after submission?
Yes, you can provide updated information by logging into your portal or emailing documents@tpgculturalexchange.com. Common updates include new teaching certifications, additional degrees, or updated contact information. Keep your profile current to ensure schools have your most accurate qualifications when considering you for positions.
I haven't received an interview invitation yet. What does this mean?
School matching timelines vary based on your subject area, location preferences, and district hiring cycles. Districts typically hire most actively between January and June for the following school year. Your application remains active and visible to schools. We recommend applying between September and January for positions starting in August or September. High-need areas like special education, STEM, and ESL often match more quickly.
How will I know when my visa is approved?
You'll receive notifications through multiple channels: your portal status will update to "Visa Approved," you'll receive an email from our team, and the U.S. embassy will return your passport with the J-1 visa stamp. After approval, we'll immediately begin coordinating your pre-departure orientation and arrival support services.
What if I need to pause or withdraw my application?
We understand circumstances change. You can request to pause your application by contacting admin@tpgculturalexchange.com. Paused applications can typically be reactivated within 6 months. If you need to withdraw completely, please notify us so we can properly close your file. There are no fees or penalties for pausing or withdrawing.
